8/19/08 New reviews, a new horror ficiton list, and a little remodeling

The Angry Princess reviews Charles Matthew Saur's Deus ex Machina Logos in the adult Supernatural section. Bob Freeman reviews Lydia Roberson's Fright House in the Anthologies and Collected Works section. The Horror Master reviews Scott Smith's The Ruins in the adult Killer Animal section.The Monster Librarian reviews A.M. Jenkins' Night Road in the young adult Vampire section.

We have added a Polar/Winter Horror Fiction List in our Horror Fiction Lists by Theme/Setting section which is found in our newly reformatted Book Ends section.

8/1/08 New reviews, interviews, and more.

In this update we send off Werewolf Month with two additional adult werewolf reviews. Bob Freeman reviews Nic Brown's Blood Curse / Werewolf for Hire Book One and Michele Lee reviews Nancy Collins' Wild Blood. The Monster Librarian reviews Neal Shusterman's Red Rider’s Hood in the young adult Werewolf section.

For our non-werewolf reviews Bret Jordan reviews Adele Hartley's Read by Dawn 3 and
M.F. Korn's Aliens, Minibikes and Other Staples of Suburbia , and David Agranoff reviews Dark Distortions edited by Molly Fesse and C.D. Allen in the Adult Horror Anthologies section. The Monster Librarian reviews Life Sucks by Jessica Abel, Gabe Soria, and Warren Pleece in the young adult Vampire and Graphic Novel sections. The Monster Librarian reviews Brian Keene's latest zombie book Dead Sea. Bob Freeman reviews Michael Smolanoff's vampire book The Oval Portrait and David Morrell's thriller Scavenger. Bret Jordan reviews The Prison by Patrick Gates in the adult supernatural section. In addition, the horror/humor chapbook Right House on the Left by Steve Vernon, Mark McLaughlin, and L.L. 2/6/07 Reviews of The Road, Vamped, and Cirque Du Freak, new Monster Librarian image by Bret Jordan, and updated Coming Horror Fiction Release

Bret Jordan reviews The Road By Cormac McCarthy for adults in the Apocalyptic Horror section. There is a review of Vamped by David Sosnowski and for the young adults a review of Cirque Du Freak. Bret Jordan did a fantastic job of drawing an image of the Monster Librarian that can be found on the left hand frame of the frames version of the site. Finally, there has been an update to the Coming Horror Fiction Releases with additional entries for March and April.

2/27/07 Reviews of horror fiction for adults, teen, and children.

Bret Jordan reviews John Saul's Creature and the Butcher Shop Quartet a collection of four tales of terror edited by Frank J. Hutton. Finally, Bret takes a look at Cthulhu Sex Magazine. Guest reviewer Havoc returns with a review of Something from the Nightside a horror themed adventure book by Simon R. Green. For those who like zombie fiction we take a look at Robert McCammon's The Night Boat. There is also a review of Christopher Golden's The Shell Collector. For teens there is a review of The Hand of the Devil by Dean Vincent Carter. Finally,for the 9-12 crowd there is a review of Horror at the Haunted House by Peg Kehret. Keep reading!

2/16/07 Reviews for adults, youngs adults, and kids. Music, Monstrous Sightings, and a store!

New reviews have been posted. First for the adults there is Bowie Ibarra's zombie title Down the Road: On the Last Day. For the young adults in the human horror section Fracesca the Librarian reviews Silent to the Bone by E.L. Konigsburg. Children will be interested in Monster Museum by Marilyn Singer and illustrated by Gris Grimly.


The week under the Book Ends section we have added:

1/25/07 Another zombie review, a first look at Y/A vampire novel Tantalize, and Philip Henry's Mind's Eye

A little bit of cosmetic upgrade on the site today, so minor you might not even notice it. This week Bret Jordan reviews J.L Bourne's Day by Day Armageddon for zombie book readers. In addition, for those interested in the shuffling dead, I provided a link to a great zombie article written by author Shannon Riley on the zombie page. I provide a review of Candlewick's much anticipate vampire release by Cynthia Leitich Smith titled Tantalize. Finally, a review of Philip Henry's Mind's Eye in the supernatural section for adults. In the Book Ends section I added an Ask the Monster Librarian page for all those with horror fiction questions (including collection development and readers advisory). Finally, also in Book Ends there is the World War I and II Horror Fiction List which has horror titles with ties to either World War I or World War II. Keep reading! ML

First off I want to officially welcome Bret Jordan on the staff as a regular reviewer. Bret has been busy reading zombie related titles and has reviews for One Rainy Night by Richard Laymon and The Undead edited by D. L. Snell and Elija Hall. For young adult vampire lovers we have The Last Days by Scott Westerfeld and The Darkangel by Meredith Ann Pierce. In addition there is a review of The Last Stand of the Great Texas Packrat Steve Vernon and Illustrations by Keith Minnion.
